Olympic Games are the leading international sporting events that feature both summer and winter sports competition. This is where thousands of athletes participate in varied competitions from all over the world. This is considered as the world’s first sports competition to have taken place with a participation of more than 200 countries.
This is held once every four years where the summer and winter games keep taking place alternatively, however two years apart. It originally started as a multitude series of competitions held between several representatives from cities across ancient Greece. These events were majorly athletic, however brought religious importance with the events been held in parallel with the rituals held in honour of Pelops and Zeus, the mythical kinds of Olympics.
The modern Olympics game is in its changed form and is different from the original conception. While the sports involved at the time of conception were only athletics, fencing, swimming, cycling and gymnastics. Over the years, there has been a steady growth in the number of sports involved. Additionally, there has also been an increase in the number of countries taking part in the competition. It is undoubtedly the best proving ground for a range of athletes internationally.
