Isle Of Wight
The Flag of Isle of Wight
The flag of the Isle of Wight is made up of a blue, navy and white design. The flag depicts a rhombus shape with an indentation at the top. This shape represents the islands shape from above, and the notch represents the river Medina (the largest river on the island). The navy and white lines below are to represent the powerful ocean waves that surround the island. The flag was first adopted in 2009, having been designed by John Graney in a flag competition, which received over 350 entries. Four were shortlisted and put to a vote, in which Graneys design won. Its distinctive design was chosen to show the Isle of Wight as being a distinctive and special place to be. Prior to this, only the flag of the council existed to represent the Isle of Wights flag, with three anchors and a castle on a navy field. This new-found identity therefore proved to be extremely popular with native islanders. We offer a wide range of flag related products such as bunting, table flags, hand flags, pole flags, car flags and pin badges in a huge variety of designs, all at extremely good value. In addition, we offer free and fast delivery, with our products being supplied from our warehouse in the UK, all with personal and friendly customer service.
